Our little trip began in Ludington, where we went to celebrate an 8oth birthday, (where this pic of T was taken - wow, she is growing up!) I knew I didn't want to drive there and back on the same day,so we brought the tent. The next day we got up and I said, "What if we went to Mackinac Island?" The girls had never been there, so we called Al (Saige was at camp), and we were off!
We stopped to get ice cream in Evart, and I told the girls how my dad would drive us and all the campers on a horse drawn hay ride to this Dairy Whip every week - one of my best childghood memories.
In our tent with the cutest milk ever!
Trip to the island on the ferry.
The girls said I had to put this one on. Click on the picture to blow it up - all of those black dots are dead moths!

Before the cannon demonstration at Fort Mackinac.
gairette loved the Jacob's Ladder and this lady showed her all types of tricks. Too bad we do not have one of my Grandpa Meister's for her.

This just made us all laugh when we were looking at the pics.

My girl.

For Kendell... Note T's addition to her wardrobe. She is very proud of her $4 scarf. There is a lot to buy on the island.

Another story from my past - I got to show the girls what kind of horses ran over Grandma gail. These horses were hauling beer kegs. Too bad it was way too much money to take a ride on a horse drawn taxi.

We loved the blacksmith, and he seemed to enjoy a kid who really wanted to learn all his tricky puzzles. He told us that at peak season, there are over 600 horses on the island, but the only horseshoes he makes are to play with.

For our favorite firefighter. The firetrucks and ambulance are the only vehicles on the island, but everything is wood, so a fire would be a disaster there.
